• 2012 The SPOKESHOP bike lounge has made Richmond History.
• 2013  THE SPOKESHOP  Bike Lounge  will tighten the spokes and tune the machine 

Since October of last year The SPOKESHOP has been providing bike repair, retail sale,s civic pride, cooperative development, youth support services,  and Bike advocacy from it's debut  Bike Shop and Lounge.

 We started building the shop on August 26th 2011 and opened our doors on October 2,  sporting used and new bikes,  a free Helmet program in coordination with the COntra costa County Health Department.   Our other partnerships have been with  The National Park services Rosie Girls project, The West County YMCA, Kennedy High School Welding department, East bay Bicycle coalition, East Bay  Bike Party, Bike San Pablo, Richmond Progressive alliance, Nevin Center , Urban TIlth, Richmond Main Street , Richmond Pal , CIty of Richmond,THe Office Of Mayor Mglaughlin, The richmond Police Department , Pogo Park , Friends of the Richmond green Way, Kaiser Permanente, 

The SPOKESHOP BIke Lounge Started as a solution to the lack of a bike shop in Richmond  and has become an important place for the Richmond community to dream  up Cycling a social and economic justice.  

SPOKES  trained the core members and has been incubating SPOKESHOP bike lounge , Richmond SPOKES, Oakland §‽⥁✂Ḝ$  and the Family Bike Collective

to be a  community owned  job training and cooperative business incubation site.   Operating as a full service bike shop and  a community bike space, it also doles as a place where  spokespeople can stop and have a conversation  , use free wi-fi , have  hookups and meeting s  and  celebrationte the kind openness that means Village ( Ika) to our community.

SPOKES has made this  milestone  and is ready with it's momentum to launch a beautiful 2013 with the SPOKESHOP bike lounge being a hub of activity and the source of energy for our advocacy , other incubated businesses and community service projects.

We will have music, food bikes, spoken word,  and  special entertainment and key note guests. 

At our grand opening we had  over 500 people and  visitors from all over the country.   For our Anniversary Celebration we expect  an even more celebratory gathering of people internationally as our story has been spread and received responses through social networks and word of mouth from over 20 cities and 15 countries.
